Our Mission:
The Prayer Shawl Ministry at Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Parish is dedicated to providing comfort to those in need. By using our time and talents we share God’s love through our handiwork. The fruits of our ministry, help provide healing and comfort to the sick, the lonely and the elderly. Over time, the shawls, lap robes and baby blankets our ministry has lovingly offered, have come to represent refuge and peace for many in need.

About the Prayer Shawls...
The giving of a Prayer Shawl enriches the spirit of those who receive it as well as those who are involved in the making of it. Before starting a new shawl, lap robe or baby blanket, our ministers offer the following prayer on behalf of the recipient:

Shawl Prayer
May this shawl be for all
a sign of Your loving, healing presence.
May it warm us when we are weary;
may it surround with encouragement
when we feel discouraged.
May it assure us of Your care and comfort
when our loved ones are in pain.
May it remind us that You love us.
And that we are surrounded by the prayers of others.

Join Our Ministry!
Do you have time to offer? We invite you to join us; no experience necessary, we will gladly teach you! We meet on the second Saturday of every month at 1:00 PM in the Parish Center. We share friendship and fellowship, while we service others through our ministry. If you are interested, or would like to stop by for a visit, contact Alice Muir at 732-754-7234.
