Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Church

Message of Welcome

From Our Pastor

Rev Jude S. Salus, OSB

“Our worst fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God; your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
These words of Nelson Mandela inspire me. I have always told our deacons and staff that whoever walks through our church doors with a problem, help them find a solution. When we lift the fears of others, we relieve our own and bring Jesus’ presence. We become the answer to each other’s prayers.

Come to Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel to celebrate Jesus’ call to discipleship! Witness his presence. Share in his mandate to love one another, to receive his precious Body and Blood, and then to go forth and spread those blessings to the community and the world beyond our borders. Come… taste and see!
Much love,

Father Jude, OSB
