Our Mission:
The Pastoral Council of Notre Dame of Mount Carmel has been established not as a governing body, but as an advisory forum, to assist the Pastor in decision-making on issues that affect the parish family. At the present, the Pastoral Council engages in decision-making by consensus, and ensures that all decisions contribute to the parish’s fulfillment of its overall mission. It is always in, through, and for the sake of Jesus that the Pastoral Council fulfills its responsibilities.

Sally Ann Augello |
"My husband Frank and I have been married for 23 years. We have two beautiful children: Caitlin, 20, and Frank, 17. We have been parishioners of Notre Dame for over 15 years. This parish has given us many wonderful opportunities to continue on our faith journey. We have been involved in Vacation Bible School, Antioch, Religious Education, Follow Me, Crossroads, and Great Adventure Bible Timeline ministries. Along with my responsibility as Pastoral Council secretary, I am also a volunteer for the Parish Support staff.
No words can express how much NDMC means to me. It provides me with the strength and courage to tackle each day knowing that I am loved." - Sally Ann Augello

Glenn Ciottone |
"I have been married to my best friend Michele for 12 years. We have 2 beautiful children, Noele and Joseph, who attend Our Lady of Mercy Academy. We also have three dogs, two parrots and two fish!
I am a full time project manager in the telecom industry, and also have my own dog training company, Consider It Canines, LLC. I have been training dogs and their owners for nearly 20 years. I love it. It is fun and rewarding to help families improve their relationships with their beloved family pets.
ND is like a second home for me and my family. We get nourished spiritually here. We love the community. Both Fr. Jude and Fr. Justin are wonderful friends and we consider them as well as all the staff at ND our extended family." - Glenn Ciottone

Kelly Depcik |
"I am engaged to Walter Orihuela who has 4 beautiful children; Christopher who is 17, Kelli and Niki who are 15 and fraternal twins, and Andrew who is 12. My loving and always supportive mother Dolores Hults also lives with me. I enjoy exercising and traveling. My background is in broadcast news so it’s no surprise I am a news junkie who loves reading news magazines and newspapers, and I am fascinated by the weather. I have a love for meteorology!
NDMC is my home and I’ve made many dear friends at here who are like my family. This parish provides me with continual support and love and I only hope I can help instill that same feeling and sense of comfort to my fellow parishioners." - Kelly Depcik

Cristina Folan |
"Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church has been a precious gift to our family. The spiritual guidance and support we have received, the people we have met, relationships we have developed, as well as the faith-filling opportunities we have experienced, have all strengthened us as a family, as individuals and as members of our community. NDMC has undoubtedly brought all of us closer to our Lord. To now be part of NDMC's staff further extends my ability to serve our parish family and support the many Spirit-filled ministries that pour their love, time and effort to spread the Good News and bring Jesus to the hearts and lives of many others. " - Cristina Folan |
Mike Guarino |
“I am married with 3 children and 8 grandchildren. I enjoy traveling, long walks, bookstores (especially older ones). I am an investment advisor and a recovering lawyer. Notre Dame has provided a warm family, joyous liturgies (even funeral Masses are uplifting) and spiritual stimulation. I feel each ministry I participate in lets me share my joy and my gifts.” - Mike Guarino |
Mary Kochan |
“I have been married for 41 years to my husband Chet. I have 2 sons, Michael and Robert, a daughter Nancy, a daughter-in-law Kathy, and 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Sarah. I own a child care business and I love gardening and most outside activities. My parish provides me with a feeling of contentment. We are very fortunate to have excellent Priests and Deacons who fulfill God’s laws. I give back by joining many ministries, past and present. We all have an obligation to join a ministry to carry out God’s word and to help others. I feel God’s presence in other people that I come in contact with each day.”and bringing them the Eucharist.” - Mary Kochan |
Vincent & Majella Lobello |
"We have been married for 18 years and have three beautiful children. We believe that we are truly blessed to be part of this amazing parish. The growth of the parish is a direct reflection of the Benedictine way of community, and the people of Notre Dame reflect that in their day-to-day lives. We see this first hand through the ministries we are involved in. We have no doubt that this loving parish will continue to grow and we will do our best to serve it in whatever way we can. So, to paraphrase Joshua, “…as for me and my family we will serve the Lord” (and our loving Notre Dame family)." - Vincent & Majella LoBello |
Gail Mertz |
"I have been married for 46 years to Frank Mertz, who serves on our parish Finance Ministry. We are blessed with 6 children and 5 grandchildren. I serve as a spiritual director and also facilitate weekend retreats for women. Frank and I have served as co-facilitators for parish staff retreats, and I have facilitated Women’s Book Groups at the parish as well as Evenings of Reflection for Women. I love to read!
Being a member of the Notre Dame parish family offers three significant blessings: 1) It is an always inviting and affirming environment in which to live and practice one’s faith; 2) It creates space for spiritual growth; and 3) It provides a whole range of ministries through which to serve and be fed." - Gail Mertz

Jean Pankow |
“I am single and blessed with a large and loving immediate family: parents, eight siblings, and 25 nieces and nephews. Being a member of this parish family has had a life-changing impact on my spirituality and my faith journey. The influence and deeply rooted commitment of so many I have come to know have had a profound effect on my faith: deepening and enriching it to the extent that these core beliefs have become the touchstone for everything else in my life. My hope and prayer is that I am capable of giving back even a fraction of what I have been so generously given, whether in tithing, giving of time, or using life and business experience to help make our parish an even more vibrant and welcoming reality.” - Jean Pankow |
Phil Scaduto |
"My wife Patty and I have been married 25 years and we have 2 teenagers. Notre Dame has been a wonderful blessing to the religious life of our family. Its vitality, warmth, and welcoming aura has brought great joy to our spiritual life. I have been involved as a catechist for 2 years, serve as a lector with my son Greg, and have been a member of the Parish Council for two years. This parish truly helps you to live your faith, which is why I'm so pleased to be a part of it." - Phil Scaduto |
Anthony Spagnolia |

Dick White |
"My wife, Debbie, and I moved to Cedar Knolls and joined Notre Dame six years ago. The parish has given me the rewarding opportunity of assisting in the Religious Education and Great Adventure Bible Timeline ministries. In our free time during the warmer weather, Debbie and I enjoy playing golf here in NJ.
NDMC is a welcoming community of fellow Catholics striving to be “little Christs,” not only in liturgical worship but also as witnesses of our faith in so many, many ministries both locally and afar. That I can be a member of such a group is indeed a privilege." - Dick White

Marilyn Zarzycki |
"My husband Dan and I have been married for 44 years and have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. I enjoy entertaining family and friends at our home. I also like to read, bake and do embroidery. Notre Dame is a welcoming, supportive, spiritual parish. The first time I walked into the gathering space their was such a wonderful feeling I knew that this is where I belonged." - Marilyn Zarzycki |
